‘Believe‘ is the soothing, ethereal new one from singer, songwriter, producer yunè pinku. The track is the first single from her upcoming Scarlet Lamb EP, out 4th October via Method 808. Beneath the balmy melodies and ASMR-evoking details of the EP, there is a host of gothic imagery, with Jane Eyre, Dracula and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein cited as particular lyrical touchpoints.
But for now ‘Believe’ really hits that Y2k William Orbit spot with lush production that feels futuristic but in an optimistic way – something we are in serious need of right now. We fell in love with yunè’s sound after bumping 2022’s Bluff EP and her subsequent Cranberries‘ cover last year.
“‘Believe’ is about the elevation that faith (whether externally or internally) can give you. It’s written from an almost omnipresent point of view, like a guardian angel or a lost friend on the other side looking out for you. Sonically, it’s also moving into a more alternative-indie range of sounds with some slight hyperpop influences in the percussions of the track,’ explains yunè.
