Growing up in the 90s, queer characters in entertainment were only ever allowed one of two narratives, being relegated to the gay best friend who provided ‘comic relief’ or someone who died of AIDS. Only this week Loverboy was marvelling at how far gay characters have come, how much their narratives have developed, how much screen-time they now have and what effect all this will have on the next generation of queer kids coming out.

An artist who also embodies this vibe through their music is Planningtorock with their brand new single ‘Gay Dreams Do Come True.’ “I feel there’s something very political about owning my queer happiness, cutting it out and saying: we have a right to be happy. I want to make gay music and create space for queer stories,” says Planningtorock’s Jam. The track is part of their upcoming EP of the same name which comes out 29th October via Human Level.

The ‘Gay Dreams Do Come True’ video dropped today and the track is a reminder that as queer people we are allowed to live, to survive, to flourish! These days we are able to achieve our dreams. Of course there are still LGBT atrocities happening in the world but today we are focusing on the positivity in the world. Today we are celebrating Planningtorock’s love story, we are celebrating their happy ending, we are celebrating the idea that all things are possible. Everybody say love!
