Every time we mail out a copy of Loverboy Issue #2 to a new lover, we are transported back in time to when the lovely Andy Butler, of Hercules & Love Affair, took us to his favourite place for pancakes & syrup in San Francisco. We spoke for hours about Grec-Roman wrestling camp, poppers and the band’s third album.

But now it’s 2022, bam, the band are back with a new single, video and pre-order for their fifth album, In Amber. The first release from the new era is entitled ‘Grace’ and although the band are known for collaborating with various vocalists, this time Andy steps up to mic himself.

Speaking about the forthcoming album, Andy says, “Across this record, there are emotional fields I hadn’t ventured into previously with Hercules & Love Affair. Destruction, rage, loss, but also redemption and journeying towards empowerment are all touchstones on the album. It has taken years to make, but I am happy to put it forward now, at a moment in time where we have all been confronted with such heightened feelings collectively and on an unprecedented scale.”
