Being real there are not a lot of things to feel proud of the UK for right now, but the British New Jazz scene is absolutely one of them. North-Londoner Nubya Gracia contributed to the collective’s 2024 output with her gorgeous album Odyssey.

The saxophonist has previously worked with Shabaka, Moses Boyd, Tom Skinner and that’s before we even get to her own work. Odyssey is a suitably sprawling journey across genres from R&B to Neo-Classical and yes, of course Jazz too, pulling in rich orchestral sounds and collaborations with Esperanza Spalding and Georgia Anne Muldrow.

Next 12th February Nubya will be playing Apolo’s La (2) in Barcelona at what is sure to be an electrifying show in an intimate venue.
