Never let it be said that the British artiste Tom Aspaul does not like to surprise. Last year he told Loverboy that his new material would be about a woozy, pschedelic trip in a Swedish sauna. But latest single, ‘Bang Bang‘ actually takes direct inspiration from the on/off relationship of Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Although being real maybe those two experiences are not as distant as they seem?!
Tom explains, ‘‘Bang Bang’ takes place at 2am, somewhere on the streets of Los Angeles, as I half-remember an adulterous tryst, shortly before my trip to Sweden. With the two ‘lovers’ at odds with each other, yet drawn together across continents – the lyrics explore the seedy underbelly of LA nightlife which ignites our affair. The song was directly influenced by the on-off relationship of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham and sonically taps in to the the bluesy, California, sun-soaked music of Fleetwood Mac, with some psychedelic trippy overtones that encapsulate the rest of the album.’
‘Bang Bang’ is out now and is the second single from Tom’s upcoming album. The epok was launched with first single, ‘Cabin Fever.’ Both tracks are big pop moments, equal parts Girls Aloud & George Michael with a new psychedelic, trippy energy – a Swedish sauna, the streets of LA, let’s see where this trip takes us next….
