Blood Orange’s Cupid Deluxe is one of our favourite albums of all time and so we are excited for the debut era of one of its key contributors, Samantha Urbani. As well as having worked on eleven of the tracks from Dev’s masterpiece, Samantha was also part of the Bushwick explorative pop group, Friends.
But this September sees the release of her debut solo album, Showing Up via Lucky Number Records. This week Samantha shared the New Wave-vibes lead single, ‘One Day At A Time.’ Taking us back to dreamy Mariah moments of sampling Tom Tom Club and fusing it with a seductive Debbie Harry delivery, we are excited to see what’s coming next.
Samantha says, ‘This is basically the cutie goofer song about wanting the player and drawing it out. Kissing you FEELS vital to my survival! I know its NOT! It’s just a FEELING! BUT THATS A BIG FEELING! THAT’S A HUGE LONGING! THATS A LONG ACHING! Urgh, can’t we just ween it off little by little? Once a week act in love? Fuck it up one day at a time? Not fuck it up all at once?’
