Last month Shura told us that only one voice had the power to pull her back to music after taking time out. She explained to Loverboy, ‘Cassandra Jenkins’ record was really the first one I could listen to after coming back from a musical wilderness.’
So it seems fitting that the next single to be taken from Shura’s upcoming third album should be a duet with Cassandra Jenkins herself. The track, ‘Richardson‘ is a beautiful, laid-back, 70s vibe of a track about wandering down the eponymous street in New York that Shura would frequent during lockdown.
Cassandra Jenkins says, “I was drawn to Richardson because it captures a mood that’s hard to place, in part because it’s so much about place, and a kind of limbo we bring with us wherever we go. I love that this collaboration developed into a meta conversation between me and Shu about the ways we communicate with our loved ones when we are apart, whether by circumstance, time, or geography. It makes me think we were cosmic pen pals long before we ever met.”
The album I Got Too Sad For My Friends is out 30th May.
