‘Rah‘ is the next single to be taken from Desire Marea‘s sophomore album which drops in just over two weeks. After telling a story of a gay love affair in South Africa’s hyper–masculine taxi gangs, Desire now returns with another ode to love, this time to Planet Earth.
‘Rah’ is an 8-minute epic sung in Zulu, lamenting human destruction to the planet. It features vocals from fellow KwaZulu artist, jazz singer Zoë Modiga. “Rah is a song lamenting the decay of the earth and the anxiety of existing in it, with it, and as it. Is self cannibalisation just the order of nature? Is it part of the healing? Is there renewal on the other side of disaster? Still, we beg for repentance,” explains Desire.
The single is taken from the album On The Romance Of Being which is released via Mute on 7th April.
