NEW: Coco & Clair Clair – ‘Aggy’

Atlanta duo Coco & Clair Clair just announced their new album Girl is coming 30th August featuring the new single, ‘Aggy.’

The pair launch this new era with the super fun ‘Aggy’ which sets the vibe from the opening bar, ‘You bring the boys, I’ll bring the girls, we’ll have a couple of drinks, forget about the world….’ I mean who does not want to be at this party? The track’s lyrics are cool, catchy and endlessly quotable – ‘Looking for the one that wants to make my name a tatty.’ ‘Aggy’ sounds like an Italians Do It Better-produced vault track from Paris Hilton’s debut album. Admit it, you can hear Paris, Britney & Lindsay in that car singing ‘They wanna see my ass in jail, wanna see me fail, they’re gonna have to breathe through that, exhale!’

New album, Girl, came together after touring the country & experiencing the soft glow of new romantic relationships with the songs being finished in a matter of weeks. Coco and Clair pushed themselves to take more risks – there’s a rock song on the album, a number of old beats Coco had made years ago and they worked with producer Raven Artson (Sevdaliza).

Coco & Clair Clair say, ‘We had a running joke about being pregnant with a new album and how this one felt like a baby girl, whereas our last project, ‘SEXY’, felt more like a baby boy. We were incorporating lyrics we had written years ago – lyrics previously put aside for being too vulnerable or confessional. We were experimenting with a style of production that felt more refined, polished, intentional, and intimate. We embraced our resourcefulness, boastfulness, and flamboyance – all virtues of femininity and girlhood as much as they are tropes of masculinity. We listened to music that we felt exuded that same tension; Saint Etienne, Brandy, Everything but the Girl, Lana Del Rey and Madonna were huge inspirations both sonically and visually. We entered this new phase as closer friends and collaborators – more in tune with each other and ourselves. We worried less but cared more, which felt powerfully feminine.’

Coco & Clair Clair’s album Girl is out 30th August.
