If there was one book we could credit with restoring our libido in a post-Covid, post-Monkeypox world, it would be Brontez Purnell‘s 100 Boyfriends. Reminding us how much good dick there is out there, not to mention how many chaotic encounters, it was like taking a one hundred and eighty page literary viagra.
So we are super excited to hear that Brontez is now back with a new album, Confirmed Bachelor, featuring twelve songs, ‘hotly delivered from the heart – often sassy, sometimes sappy and always snappy!’ Today he drops the first single, a cover of Julie Ruin’s ‘Stay Monkey.’
Purnell says, “I remember I sang ‘Stay Monkey’ by Julie Ruin for my high school chorus class and this one girl who only listened to Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan was like “OMG this song is so amazing” and I was like “oh shit is this a cross over pop hit ?!” (This was 1997). I’m 40 now so I covered it. Also, I’m the (Rogue) King of Rock n Roll.”
