UK inclusive club night, HE.SHE.THEY, have been steadily building one of the safest and most inclusive spaces for the community in London and now they are taking it to the next level, both online and IRL!
Having been born in London by co-founders Steven Braines & Sophia Kearney, the duo were soon setting up parties and spreading their message of inclusion across Europe and even the States with DJs including our angels, Honey Dijon & Maya Jane Coles.
Next up for them is the online world with the team launching the HE.SHE.THEY. app including a global social networking hub with an accompanying chat app that aims to reduce the ills of the social world.
“With diversity, inclusion and community, at the heart of everything that HE.SHE.THEY. does, we wanted to disrupt the social media space as we have in the arts. We all know social media sites and dating apps can be toxic with anonymous trolls ready to spit hate, but we also know that these apps can bring many positives if you can lessen the negatives ” says Steven.
“Firstly, to be able to use the online hub and accompanying app, you have to have your profile validated by sending in a picture of yourself doing the same distinct randomised gesture as in the photo. This is checked by actual humans rather than relying on an algorithm.”
“Our community has always been about platforming and celebrating weird and wonderful humans, so of course, we have a zero tolerance policy on homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, disablism, body shaming and racism on the app. People can report hate speech – again to an actual human – and depending on the nature of the violation people will either be warned about their behaviour or banned from the app.”
Currently, the site and app will be focused on dating, friend finding and community building, with users soon to be treated to big discounts and early releases on HE.SHE.THEY.; gig tickets, clothing and exclusive content including full length episodes of their new podcast series which launched today.
Ahhh but we also said the HE.SHE.THEY universe is expanding in IRL, right? And it’s true, on Saturday the fam make their LA debut at 1720 Warehouse DTLA. For more info see here.
