Loverboy spends what should(!) have been one of the most stressful days of our lives, lounging poolside, anxiety-free at Dolce Sitges‘ Mediterranean oasis.
Moving house is one of the most traumatic things you can do in life….officially! But this summer I was determined to bite the bullet. After an exhausting 2020/21 being cooped up in my starter apartment in Barcelona’s El Raval, sharing with four others – it was time to spread my wings and find somewhere permanent solo.
Being August in Spain, searching for a flat was harder than expected. I saw one I liked, but many more that I didn’t. It was only the third day of searching and I was already feeling discouraged. So against all my friends’ better judgement I did what any sane person would do…avoid my problems! I needed a few days reclining by a pool, surrounded by palm trees, a wellness sanctuary, some divine gastronomy, possibly a cocktail or three and I knew just the place. I needed a summer escapada at Dolce Sitges.
Dolce Sitges is a mere stroll away from Sitges beach, but tucked away in the hills, so you feel like you are a million miles away from the gay craziness of Parrots – and that can only be a good thing! In fact Dolce Sitges is so secluded that the hotel is surrounded by natural parks, trees and a golf course. It’s the perfect place to hide away from the increasingly-intense summer heat and disconnect from the world.
My bags were packed and mentally I was already in one of Dolce Sitges‘ four solar-heated outdoor pools, when suddenly the property agent called saying that if I wanted to put in an offer the apartment I had liked then I would need to collect bank statements, invoices, print agreements, sign them, send them back and make various bank transfers…in the next three hours.
This cannot be happening! I had a day of relaxation and rejuvenation planned at Dolce Sitges’ Vital Spa, specifically their Antiox Summer Experience: O2 Body Perfection, consisting of an exfoliation massage before an oxygenating mask with a soufflé texture! I had booked my table at Dolce Sitges’ La Punta restaurant & terrace – my mouth was already salivating over the idea of a mango gazpacho served with king prawns! I wanted to be sitting on my spacious balcony with a sea view! Spending the day doing paperwork was not the summer of seduction fantasy I had in mind!
As it turned out, Dolce Sitges was the perfect place to go through this arduous process. It was peaceful and open-air with stunning views and pools to help me stay calm after filling out the hundredth form of the day. They have an outdoor bar with sun loungers and the kind of Beach House music pumping that you would hear in Real Housewives of Beverly Hills before they go to a club – aka the best kind of music! Reclining poolside really felt like I was a million miles away from the rest of the world. La Punta‘s menu was even more delicious than I had hoped for with tuna tartare, grilled octopus and veal sirloin all on the menu. Dolce Sitges’ Vital Spa was everything and more – allowing me to switch off and forget that I needed to return to Barcelona and begin packing my life into Ikea bags.
For the record I have no intention of moving apartment ever again – but I am already dreaming of my next visit to the Mediterranean Oasis of Luxury that is Dolce Sitges.
