Spring has officially sprung with Róisín Murphy‘s new single ‘CooCool.’ Dropping it on International Women’s Day no less, Róisín is serving something to lure us out of our winter hibernation or cocoooooon, if you will.
Róisín’s first release since signing with the legendary label Ninja Tune, ‘CooCool’ is taking us out of the club and into the lush, green fields of the countryside for a spot of birds-and-the-bees watching. Her last album, Róisín Machine, arguably her most commercially successful to date was one for the ravers, but as always Róisín is keeping us on our toes and switching things up again. Giving us sixties pop and sensual, jazz vibes, the track reminds us of her Mi Senti-era, covering classic Italian pop. The result, with DJ Koze, is a grower of a tune that continues to bloom on every listen.
“Ostensibly a fragile little flower yet it has great hidden strength at the roots. There’s classic virtuosity and a lightness of touch, while DJ Koze’s hyper-modern production makes it bounce and glide. It’s a stupidly romantic little love poem. Everything in this song is true and playful.” Róisín Murphy
