Last time we saw Bria Salmena, it was 2019, she was part of Orville Peck’s band and Loverboy was watching her play in the cramped, sweaty little venue Sidecar. A time was had.
Since then the Canadian has parted ways with the rhinestone cowboy and is now here to introduce her new work as a solo artist. The track, ‘Bending Over Backwards‘ has a meditative looping beat throughout with an anthemic chorus and big vocals. The track gives us late 90s vibes with elements of PJ Harvey, Sugababes’ ‘Overload’ or Cardigans’ ‘Erase/Rewind’ all to be found. ‘I have a really hard time defining myself so concretely because I think that’s just creatively boring. The song is about some crazy life experiences that I’ve had in the past four years and the work that it takes to go into chaos and come out of it,” Bria explains.
