Not many people would have the balls to take on a role, already played by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. But as Lady Gaga was so keen to tell us, ‘What I do is very boyish…It has a lot of balls.‘ So who better to play the lead in the new version of A Star Is Born but Stefani Germanotta herself.

Starring alongside Bradley Cooper, who’s also stepping up as Director, this is obviously a personal project for both of them but also a big risk. But judging by this trailer, they might just have pulled it off.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Cooper plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally (Gaga).  She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer… until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight.  But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.

A STAR IS BORN is released  in cinemas October 5.
