"Rihanna was an absolute joy, just so beautiful and sassy. Mariah was so chatty and funny. Lady Gaga was like catching up with a friend."
Loverboy knows many lambs, lovers, monsters, beliebers and KatyCats, but all these pale into insignificance compared with Vasilios Mantoulidis. The hunky Greek is a graphic designer by day and a celebrity stalker stan by night – just follow him on Instagram and you’ll see what we mean.
But it wasn’t photos with RiRi, Mimi or Nicki that made us think perhaps it was time we feature him. No, he just threw on a pair of Speedos and the thirst trap was set.
You go to so many gigs and you’re ALWAYS at the front. Who have you seen the most?
I’ve seen Madonna the most – about 17 times if we include the play she did in London in 2002. But she’s my fave since I was 16, so it’s understandable.
Who was the best/worst artist you met?
All of them were great experiences. I usually start by mentioning I travelled from Greece especially. That always gets a great first impression and gets the conversation going. Rihanna was an absolute joy, just so beautiful and sassy. Mariah was so chatty and funny. Lady Gaga was like a friend you met to catch up with. It’s also very cute and a bit emotional meeting acts I liked when I was a teenager, like Bananarama and Belinda Carlisle. It felt like a proper ‘dream come true’ moment.
What do you do for a job that allows you to travel to so many shows?!
I’m a freelance graphic designer. But I’m really lucky. I have a lot of faithful clients, some for years now, so when I’m not travelling it’s ‘work, work, work’! Sometimes from early morning to late nights, even on Sundays! But it’s worth it. I’m actually such a Europe stan, I haven’t traveled far that much – it’s usually London, Paris, Berlin, Milan, Barcelona and less frequently cities like Stockholm or Manchester which I love.
Is there one legendary show, perhaps pre-millennium that you wish you’d been at?
Hmmm I love so many 90s acts, but for some reason the tour TLC did for Fanmail, with Destiny’s Child and Christina Aguilera opening for them seems like great fun. Of course the holy grail would be attending any Blonde Ambition date. The tour that started it all – regarding pop shows.
Who was your favourite 90s pin up?
J from Five – haha. George Clooney was very much it for me too, during the late 90s. But I also loved JLo back then. When they did the movie Out Of Sight – that was a bit confusing.
What is your star sign and are you true to it?
I’m a Scorpio. I don’t really follow Astrology but I looked it up just now and yes, I am a typical Scorpio.
What’s the strangest things a guy has done to you in bed?
Stop to put some music on and it was Medusa by Annie Lennon. That album is not made for that kind of time.
Do you have anything unusual you look for in a guy? (We love a big nose for example…)
It will sound such a cliche but it’s always been beards, always. Since I was little actually. And pecs. Beards and pecs are a fantastic combo.
Ah yes, your amazing beard. What’s the most unusual thing you’ve found stuck in your beard?
Sadly just food. The best was the rain-type confetti from the Confessions Tour but that was in my underwear. The beard was there but not as big back then.
What’s your favourite Mariah track?
Easy. ‘Prisoner’ from the debut album, which is stone cold classic with no filler. It’s probably a tie with ‘Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix Featuring Joe & Nas)’. I told her when I met her that ‘Prisoner’ was a fave and that it came out when I was leaving high school. She was like ‘Gurrrlll, don’t mention years like that’ while winking at me. Legend!
