“I remember writing the song and coming up with the hook, ‘I don’t want to be the world’s worst girlfriend.’ It felt like it was so bad that it was…amazing.” And this is how Shura introduced Loverboy to her latest single, ‘World’s Worst Girlfriend‘ – out now. The singer/songwriter also officially titled it as the ‘poppiest’ moment on her new album I Got Too Sad For My Friends – out 30th May via Play It Again Sam.
Accompanying the release is the the video which sees Shura frustrate her partner by preferring to stay in, cook and…imaginary fictitious scenarios between her hopeless knights and damsel in distress. We’re with Shura on this one. The cute imagery perfectly plays with Shura’s fun and half-joking lyrics as she laments her anti-social nature. The track itself is a mid-tempo groove that really hits in the chorus as she sings, ‘Maybe I got too sad for my friends…’ with some beautiful layering of vocal harmonies.
Shura also plays two headlines shows at London’s Bush Hall on 10th and 11th June. Tickets here.
