Acclaimed Chilean electronic artist Paula Tape just announced her upcoming Acid Latino EP, out 20th November via Future Classic. Introducing the EP with the title track, ‘Acid Latino (Sonido Real)‘ is sounding tropical, fresh, organic and very sweaty indeed. Looking to explore her love for 90s Electronica, Rave & Acid House Culture, Paula wanted to throw the unpredictability of Latin rhythms into the mix too.
“I’ve always liked salsa piano progression,” the producer explaions, “I find it soulful and rich in groove, one day I was listening to “Bilongo by Fania all-Stars” and I was in a trance because of how the piano moved and sounded, at that time I was working in the studio and I dared to use a Latin piano progression, I was curious to try something similar but in a more electronic key.”
Having headlined Boiler Room this year, preached to the Glastonbury masses, played Ibiza’s legendary Circoloco and been selected for a residency at Radio 1, Paula is bringing her sound and as always her culture to this EP. “Acid Latino is a state of mind, it’s a feeling of emotions that are coming through a long process of awareness. Much of the music was inspired whilst travelling the South American continent and sharing moments with my people around there.”
