ICONIQA is Barcelona’s number one night for serving stunts and opulence, hunty. The Queer Coven have created a community and safe space for those of of us who want to feed the children and in the words of mutha, ‘Come, let’s give ’em, just what they want!’
Taking over the iconic Razzmatazz on 15th October for the third edition, ICONIQA will see Drag Race artistes Gottmik and Sagittaria headlining along with the rest of the family. The theme for the night is Black and Metallic, so get creative and we’ll see you on the dancefloor to dip, twirl and spin.
Loverboy caught up with Sagitarria to find out more about Barcelona’s fiercest night of the month!
So, Sagittaria, how did you come to meet Barry and the ICONIQA crew?
I met Barry at the first ICONIQA and after that we started to work on some projects with Barry and the rest of the crew. I’ve never met such an amazing team like them, truly beautiful people.
There aren’t many Queer places in Barcelona that live for lewks like ICONIQA. How has fashion changed within the Barcelona LGBT community over the last few years?
It’s true that Barcelona has a good LGBT representation. The drag queens and queer artists here are so creative but we need more platforms like Iconiqa.
October’s ICONIQA theme is Black and Metallic. What are the first references that come to mind?
When I think of metallic and black I think of the group KISS. Also Beyoncé in the Renaissance World Tour. That Mugler Bee look was everything. Black has always reminded me of the looks from Mugler, always empowering women.
KISS?! Oh werq. Will you be performing to a heavy metal at ICONIQA?!
Hahaha, it’s not gonna be heavy metal, but people WILL MOVE.
Joining you on the line up is Gottmik. Have you met before?
I’ve never met her, although we have talked a few times via Instagram. Her finale look, along with Violet’s Season 8 finale look, is one of the most gorgeous dresses I’ve ever seen.
How do you go about creating your looks?
I always create the ideas of my looks. I get inspiration from designers, movies and concerts, then I redesign it and it becomes more mine.
How has your relationship with drag changed since Drag Race?
Thanks to Drag Race I can reach more queer people and artists. Some of them admire me and I admire them too. So that experience has allowed me to know more interesting people and artists.
Which Spanish song needs to be a lip sync on Drag Race Españ Season 4? We need ‘Yo No Soy Esa’.
I need ‘Salvaje’ by Nathy Peluso to be on Season 4 and ‘Yo no soy esa’ would be AMAZING.
Lastly Loverboy is named after the biggest selling single of 2001. So we always ask what is your favourite Mariah Carey song?
My favourite is ‘When You Believe’ because it reminds me of my childhood, listening to that song in the ‘Prince of Egypt’.
ICONIQA is at Razzmatazz on 15th October.
