We talk to Alaska about the event, find out her take on the ‘You Got She-Mail’ debate and what her talent would be if she were an escort…

How did you come to host The Hookies? 
Well, Boomer Banks asked me to do it and I jumped at the chance.  I’ve always wanted to be the hostess of a glitzy, glamourous awards show for a bunch of gorgeous men who have sex for money.  It’s every girl’s dream come true.  I’ll be wearing something by my favorite designer Dallas Coulter.  And I hope to be more Tina Fey than Anne Hathaway.

What do you think is the most important quality in an escort?
A kind heart.

If you were an escort what would you be known for?
I’d be known for leaving glitter, long blonde strands of hair, and the faint scent of whorish perfume wherever I go.

When you applied for Drag Race S05 what did you think would come of it?
I hoped I would get on the show, because I’d been auditioning so feverishly for years.  And when I did, I was convinced I was going home every day.  I’m grateful I got to stay until the end.  And I’m also grateful I get to be a working Ru Girl.

What’s been the highlight since leaving the show?
I’ve had so many great opportunities.  Right now, traveling with the Battle of the Seasons is a huge endeavor and it is really rewarding.  We’re probably coming to a city near you– rupaulbots.com.

What do you make of the ‘she-mail’ debate on Drag Race?
I think it was a joke that was an attempt to take back a harmful word and a harmful practice oft used by mainstream trash culture, but I think it got misconstrued and then became a publicity bargaining chip for multiple sides of a very complex debate.  This discussion is ongoing, but honestly I’m very happy with Season 7’s replacement sound effect where Ru simply shouts, “She done already done had hers-es.”

Are you excited to come back to the UK for BOTS? What can we expect?
I couldn’t possibly give away my secrets.  It’s always evolving and changing.  So I’m not sure what you should expect, except to have a good time.

What’s next for Alaska?
The play.  The book.   The movie.
